Italy delivers PzH 2000 155mm self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine

Italy has donated five German-made PzH 2000 155mm self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, the Italian newspaper Il Mattino reported on 29 June.

This would make Italy the third country to supply Ukraine with PzH 2000 following the Netherlands and Germany.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Madrid on 29 June, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte stated that Italy “will be supplying” Ukraine with heavy weapons “similar” to the howitzers that Germany and the Netherlands are sending to the country.

The Netherlands and Germany approved the delivery of 12 PzH 2000 to Ukraine in May 2022 and it has been reported that those systems are now operational in the fight against Russian forces.
