German Leopard 2A8 tanks to be equipped with Trophy APS

EuroTrophy has secured a contract from KNDS Deutschland for the delivery of 123 Trophy Active Protection Systems (APS) intended for the German Army’s newest Leopard 2A8 main battle tank (MBT) fleet.

In addition to the active protection systems, the agreement encompasses an initial supply of spare parts and services to ensure effective integration within the technical, operational, and logistical framework of the German Army.

This deal marks the second major award for EuroTrophy within the last 12 months, following the Norwegian Army’s selection for Trophy APS for the Leopard 2A8.

“We are honored and grateful for this award, as it clearly demonstrates the high confidence our customer KNDS has in our combat proven Active Protection System. With this step, Trophy has become an integral part of the Leopard 2 A8 standard configuration,” said Dan Kalfus, Managing Director of EuroTrophy.

“This contract award marks a major milestone and achievement in our joint effort to supply worldclass technology to our European customers. We are convinced that Trophy will be the first choice for many other NATO and European users, which want to equip their MBT and IFV fleets with an Europe-made active protection system,” added Dr. Thomas Kauffmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EuroTrophy.

Trophy Active Protection System

Trophy APS is a Hard-Kill APS designed specifically for armoured fighting vehicles. It offers advanced functionalities essential for contemporary military engagements. Having reached full maturity and being operational worldwide, this system has been deployed by NATO member states and has contributed to saving lives since its introduction in 2011. Furthermore, Trophy APS is compatible with any armoured vehicle.

Trophy APS is designed to addresses the growing complexity of anti-tank threats, which may involve simultaneous and multi-directional attacks from diverse ranges. It swiftly identifies, categorizes, engages, and neutralizes all recognized Chemical Energy (CE) and hollow-charge threats, including anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), anti-tank rockets, high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and recoilless rifles.

EuroTrophy

EuroTrophy, a joint venture located in Frankfurt, is formed by Rafael, KNDS, and GDELS. It stands as the sole provider of an Active Protection System that is both combat-tested and fielded by NATO, manufactured in Europe. In addition to its primary offerings, the company delivers an extensive array of services, including vehicle integration assistance, maintenance, and support throughout the introduction and operational lifespan of its APS.
