An undisclosed unit in the Spanish Army is to receive 15 Barrett M95 .50 bolt-action sniper rifles according to reports. The total cost of the order is valued at €450K ($448K).
Neither the Spanish Ministry of Defense nor Barrett Firearms has disclosed any specifications on the rifle but it is most likely the M95 bolt-action rifle chambered in .50 BMG (12.7×99mm).
The Barrett M95 rifle is currently in service with Spanish Army and Navy special operations forces.
With an effective firing range of 1,800 meters, the M95 can engage targets out to 6,500+ meters.
The M95 rifles will be supplied by Northern Technologies Defense and overseen by the Spanish Army’s Logistics Support Command.
The order is expected to be finalised this month, with deliveries expected by the end of November.
