Saab has announced that it is establishing a new manufacturing plant in Tampere, Finland to support the large-scale serial production of the Sirius Compact. The move comes as the Sirius Compact has garnered a positive reception in the market, with substantial deliveries planned for 2025.
“Saab’s footprint is growing in Finland with a focus on research and development operations in the field of electronic warfare. This initiative underscores Saab’s commitment to provide cutting-edge defense solutions to customers,” says Kristian Tornivaara, Managing Director for Saab Finland.
Saab currently has a workforce of over 200 across its locations in Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku with its presence expandimg significantly in recent years and is set to continue growing with upcoming recruitment efforts.
In addition to the Sirius Compact series of sensors, Saab Finland is providing capabilities for sensor networks and tools for managing threat libraries, which support customers in their tactical Electronic Support Measures (ESM) operations.
The new manufacturing facility in Tampere is scheduled to commence operations in early 2025. The Sirius Compact series of passive surveillance sensors facilitates the detection, geo-location, classification, and prioritization of hostile Radar (R-ESM) and Communication (C-ESM) emitters, with specific variants designed for Land, Air, and Naval applications.
