Thales to continue maintaining mobile threat simulators for German Bundeswehr

Thales Deutschland has been awarded a three-year contract with Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the maintenance of components of the mobile threat simulators and their peripherals as part of the Polygone programme.

These simulators play a vital role in training German aircrews to defend against ground-to-air missile threats in realistic combat scenarios.

Thales stated that the three-year contract is the outcome of a strong partnership and trust developed with the BAAINBw. This collaboration is a key part of the Polygone program, a tri-national initiative aimed at preparing the German armed forces.

As part of the Polygone program, a comprehensive database has been established, incorporating both aircraft metrics and Thales’ advanced data systems. This integration enables the crews to conduct a thorough analysis and precise debriefing of the use and effectiveness of their aircraft’s self-protection equipment.

“Simulation plays a key role in handling, procedural, behavioural and communication training in all operational areas and at all operational levels. Mastering modern aircraft in complex threat scenarios requires high quality training. We are thrilled to be able to continue supporting the German Armed Forces in the Polygone programme.” said Christoph Ruffner, CEO of Thales Germany.
