Elbit Systems to provide artillery and mortar simulators to British Army

The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded Elbit Systems UK a contract to develop and supply artillery and mortar training simulators for the British Army.

The Interim Indirect Fire Simulation (IIDFS) will be given to three training locations, including the Royal School of Artillery (RSA) at Larkhill, the Combined Arms Manoeuvre School (CAMS) at Warminster, and the Collective Training Group (CTG) at various locations in the UK and abroad.

The simulators will be designed for the British Army’s 81mm mortars and 105mm Light Gun, providing simulated ammunition, and a high-tech interface for real-time communication between instructors and military personnel. Elbit System UK’s open architecture will allow for individual and collective training of military personnel simultaneously.

Ongoing training and technical support will also be provided by Elbit Systems UK throughout the three-year program.

This contract builds on Elbit Systems UK’s existing advanced training and simulation systems deployed to the British Army and will create jobs across Elbit Systems UK sites, as well as its supply chain.

The contract also leverages the experience of its subcontractor, Van Halteren Technologies, from the Netherlands, who have already delivered similar systems globally.
