Thales to deliver Ground Master 200 MM/C Multi-Mission Compact radar to Sweden

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has entered into a contract with Thales for the provision of the Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission Compact radar (GM200 MM/C), with the first deliveries scheduled for 2026.

“We are very proud to be selected by FMV to further strengthen Swedish sovereign and defence capabilities in an increasingly challenging environment. The Thales GM200 MM/C, with its high-end technology, will play a vital role contributing to the overall national security”, says Håkan Ahlström, Country Director Sweden, Thales.

The Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission series comprises radars designed to identify smaller, faster, and more agile targets at extended distances, all while maintaining exceptional tactical mobility and survivability. Capable of being deployed in under two minutes, this radar system is perfectly suited for advancing ground forces toward the frontline.

The Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission Compact radar (GM200 MM/C) offers improved situational awareness and operational dominance through its 4DAESA technology, along with capabilities for fire support and weapon location.

The GM200 MM/C can accommodate a diverse array of missions such as simultaneous weapon locating and counter-battery operations, as well as air surveillance and air defence. Its outstanding detection capabilities make it particularly effective in identifying and tracking enemy fire, including rockets, artillery, and mortars, during weapon locating and counter-battery missions.

The system delivers essential early warning and accurate location data, encompassing both point of origin and point of impact assessments, which are vital for ground-based air defence applications. Additionally, the GM200 MM/C excels in the automatic detection, tracking, and classification of UAVs, conventional threats, and air-breathing threats, including fast-moving cruise missiles.

Sweden is the fifth NATO country to select this highly mobile multi-mission medium range radar.
