BISim to deliver synthetic environment for US Army Futures Command’s Mission Planning Toolkit

Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems, is partnering with the US Army Futures Command to develop an end-to-end solution for generating 3D data and game-ready, high-fidelity terrain within the Synthetic Training Environment Mission Planning Toolkit (MPT).

The MPT prototype has recently attained Initial Operating Capability following the integration of BISim’s Mantle terrain management platform. This partnership provides a cost-effective and comprehensive solution for mission planning. The MPT is equipped with an autonomous drone that captures terrain imagery tailored for mission simulations.

This imagery is transmitted into real-time terrain, thereby enhancing simulations in VBS4 and Blue IG. The high-quality data collected by the drone contributes to a more authentic synthetic environment, allowing users to devise mission plans based on terrain that accurately reflects real-world conditions.

This solution enables operators to swiftly create mission plans, thereby conserving valuable time during the planning stage. Consequently, units have more opportunities to conduct rehearsals within the training environment. Once operational rehearsals commence, initial mission plans can be refined, facilitating improved decision-making on the battlefield prior to mission execution.

The MPT empowers soldiers to operate with exceptional speed and confidence, enabling them to rehearse the same scenario multiple times before actual deployment.

“BISim’s focus on operational readiness is evident in solutions like the MPT,” said Pete Morrison, chief product officer at BISim. “We have a deep understanding of military needs, and our developers are equipped to deliver transformative capabilities quickly and affordably. Significant advancements in our Mantle platform allow this training capability to translate to a broad range of customers, and we and look forward to expanding its offerings to the industry.”

“In a resource constrained environment, the STE Mission Planning Kit is a force multiplier for 188th Infantry Brigade to enable our Army Reserve and National Guard partners to understand the operational environment and effectively plan training,” said Col. William Shoemate, Commander of the 188th Infantry Brigade in Fort Stewart, Georgia. The 188th is currently utilizing the MPT.
