Raytheon to replenish Dutch Patriot air defence system

Raytheon, a business unit of RTX, has secured a contract valued at USD 529 million to provide the Netherlands with a Patriot air and missile defence system fire unit along with associated equipment to facilitate the replacement of a Patriot fire unit that was previously donated to Ukraine.

Raytheon stated that the direct commercial sales contract includes a single fire unit consisting of a radar, launchers, command and control stations, and other support equipment.

Patriot represents the sole combat-tested ground-based air and missile defence system globally, capable of countering sophisticated long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and a wide array of air-breathing threats. Serving as the cornerstone of air defence for 19 nations, the system consistently proves its efficacy in addressing advanced aerial threats and large-scale complex raid assaults.

“Raytheon is committed to partnering with the Dutch as they continue to advance their integrated air and missile defense capabilities,” said Pete Bata, senior vice president of Global Patriot at Raytheon. “The Netherlands’ investment in Patriot ensures collective security and deterrence across Europe.”

Work on this contract will primarily be conducted at Raytheon’s facilities in Andover, Massachusetts, and Huntsville, Alabama.
