IDV to supply Italian Army with 1,435 tactical trucks

Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) has entered into a contract with the Direzione Armamenti Terrestri (DAT) of the Italian Ministry of Defence for the provision of 1,453 tactical-logistic trucks to the Italian Army.

The agreement pertains to the provision of various military logistic platforms that feature tactical cabins and are constructed on the latest series of IDV SMR6 trucks (Standard Military Range), encompassing 4×4, 8×8, and 10×10 models.

These new vehicles will be available in multiple configurations, including those designed for troop and material transport, as well as water tankers, fuel tankers, container carriers, recovery vehicles, and towing systems.

The delivery of the new trucks is scheduled to commence in 2025 and continue until 2038, and forms part of the renewal and modernization of the Italian Army’s fleet of tactical-logistic vehicles.

IDV stated that these vehicles will ensure the Italian Army has the highest levels of mobility, protection, manoeuvrability, and reliability as well as logistical communality among the different platforms.
